"Everyone has a photographic memory, but not everyone has film."
If you would have came up to me three years ago and asked me what I wanted to do later in my life, I probably would have told you something that had to do with photography. It might not have been still life or portraits, but it would've had something to do with a camera. The other day Miranda and I went out to pick up a camera. Not your ordinary camera like the ones you see all the stars advertising on T.V, or the ones you see all the professionals using everywhere. We picked up our very first plastic camera the Holga 12oN. Never in my life would I have thought that I would be spending money on a plastic camera with light leaks. As of today I am now a huge fan of this camera, although I haven't yet developed the film to see what I got I am still so happy about this investment. Today was the first time ever in my life that I loaded the Holga 120N with a roll of film and set off on a little adventure. The one thing that I have learned since starting to shoot film is that I see light in a different way now. Everywhere I go I constantly look at the way the shadows are hitting things or how when the sun is just about to set and you get those beautiful rays of light shining through the trees with it's golden color. Anyway today on my adventure I really just walked around with this plastic camera in my hand getting crazy looks from people as I would click the shutter, remove the tape on back of the camera to see when to stop advancing the film for the next frame, place the tape back on the camera and then click the shutter again (the tape I put there to prevent light leaks). 12 exposures later I was removing the film from the camera and thinking about my next Holga Experience.
